Missing Friends.

William P. White is inquired for by tho Auckland police at the instance of John Burns and Company. Description : A native of New Zealand, thirty years of age, about 5 ft. lljin. high, dark-brown moustache, brown eyes; dressed in dark-blue serge suit, grey soft-felt hat, and tan boots. He was employed by the above firm as commercial traveller, and left Mercer on the 22nd December, 1900, for Auckland by the 5 p.m. train; his luggage arrived at the Commercial Hotel, but no trace can now be found of him.

Edwin A. Burton is inquired for by the Auckland police at the instance of his father, John Burton, Grafton Road. Description : A native of New Zealand, a labourer and bushhand, thirty-six years of age, 5 ft. 9 in. high, dark complexion, thin build, black hair whiskers and moustache, whiskers cut short; well educated; respectable appearanoe; has lost middle finger of right hand from the second joint; has a gunshot wound on right thigh ; was working at sawmills at Waitakerei, and recently had charge of his uncle’s bakery business in Grafton Road. He was last seen in the Auckland Domain on the 22nd December last, and was dressed in a dark-tweed coat, light-coloured trousers, and dark skullcap.

Adbline, or Ada, McKernan is inquired for by the Napier police. Description : A native of New Zealand, twenty-one years of age, a fruit- and lolly-shop keeper, 5 ft. 5 in. or 6 in. high, long thin features, fair complexion, rather good looking, has a scar about 1 in. long on the neck below the left ear, front teeth sound and even, very light brown coarse hair; when last seen at Napier on the 31st May or Ist June last was wearing a dark-green dress with a band of black military braid round the bottom, a double-breasted fawn jacket, a pepper-and-salt hat with poppy trimming, and lace-up boots with patent-leather toes. On the 3rd June last the body of a woman was found in the Napier Harbour (see Police Gazette, 1900, page, 150), and it is thought she may be identical with the missing friend.

William Mant, alias Scott, is inquired for by the Dunedin police, with a view of compelling him to contribute towards the support of his wife and children. Description : A native of England, labourer, forty-one years of age, about sft. sin. high, fresh oomplexion, dark-brown eyes, dark hair and moustache, stout build; was last heard of about twelve years ago at Kimberley.

Arabella Carlson, nee Preston, is inquired for by the Eltham police at the instance of her husband, John Carlson. Description: A native of New Zealand of Irish parents, thirty years of age, sfc. 9 in. or 10 in. high, fair complexion, grey eyes, etrong build, large features. She left her home at Eltham on the 6th November, 1900, supposed for Coolgardie, Australia, and may be found with Robert Ranwick, a supposed colonial, a labourer, twenty-six years of age, dark oomplexion, sft. Bin. high, clean-shaved except moustache.
