Deserters from Her Majesty’s Service.
From H.M.S. “ Penguin,” at Fremantle, W.A. On 20th October, 1899. Nathaniel Crosby, A. 8., twenty-three years of age, a native of Essex, Oft. high, brown hair, grey eyes, fair complexion, rose, &c., on left forearm. On 3rd November, 1899. James Laverty, A. 8., twenty years of age, born at Helburn, Durham, 5 ft. 2J in. high, black hair, weak grey eyes, fresh complexion, clean shaved. On 4th November, 1899. Charles Aldridge, ordinary seaman, eighteen years of age, born at St. Augustine, Norfolk, 5 ft. 4in. high, dark hair, hazel eyes, fresh complexion, heart tattooed on right forearm. On sth November, 1899. Harry Y. Beckett, A. 8.. a native of Greenwich, Kent, twenty-three years of age, 5 ft. 4 in. high, dark-brown hair, blue eyes, fresh complexion, clean-shaved, peculiarly slow way of speaking. A reward of £3 is offered for the arrest of each of these men. From H.M.S. “ Katoomba,” at Sydney. On 6th November, 1899. John Thomas Jones, stoker, twenty-three years of age, a native of Derby, 5 ft. 4£ in. high, brown hair, hazel eyes, fair complexion, cut on right elbow. On 11th November, 1899. James Cardoe, qualified signalman, nineteen years of age, a native of Bathgate, Linlithgow, 5 ft. 7 in. high, brown hair, blue eyes, fresh complexion, scar on right side of neck.
A reward not exceeding £3, and expenses, will be paid for the arrest of each of the above men within a period of two years.
