Missing Friends.
Thomas Murphy is inquired for by the Winton police. Description: A native of New Zealand, a labourer and rabbiter, twenty-three years of age, 5 ft. lljin. high, stout and well built, dark-brown hair, small fair moustache only, full face, single, usually wears a dark-serge suit. Said to have been seen at the Bluff on the 6th ultimo. Inquiry is for the purpose of having him bound over to appear at the Supreme Court, Invercargill, on'jthe 6th February next, as a witness for the defenco in the case against Henderson and Gerrard for maliciously shooting and killing a horse.

William Melody’s body has been found on the Wangaehu Beach, and at an inquest held on the 22nd ultimo an open verdict was returned.
