Onehunga. —Ernest William Mills, seaman, s.s. “ Kanieri,” reports stolen from his berth, on the Ist instant, a silver lever double-cased watch, No. 303798, maker W. Ehrhardt, London; and a metal chain, curb pattern, plain and fancy links : value, £3 10s.

Waverley. —Ernest B. Izard, accountant, Bank of New South Wales, reports stolen from his drawer, on the 3rd instant, £56 2s. 6d. —viz., forty £1 notes on the above bank, twenty half-sovereigns, and the balance in silver.

Gisborne. —Frederick James Shelton, merchant, reports stolen, on the 24th or 25th ultimo, a gentlemen’s Columbia chainless bicycle, No. 8035, painted black, no brake, 22 in. frame, straight handle, Christy saddle, tool-bag, containing oil-can and spanner, attached ; value, £25.

Walpukurau. —Peete, a Maori, reports stolen from the Haturna Railway-siding, on the 23rd ultimo, a tent-fly, 12 ft. by 12 ft., marked “ Peete ” with ink-penoil, rolled up, and containing three blankets (two white, one with brown-and-red stripes), a pair of blue dungaree trousers, and a soft black-serge shirt; value, £2 10s. Suspicion attached to a man, name unknown, about fifty years of age, medium height, full grey beard ; wore a dark coat, light trousers, and light soft-felt hat; carried a swag. Went towards Takapau. His identification is doubtful.

Wellington. —The Wellington Harbour Board report stolen from cases, between the 23rd and 25th April last, sixteen 201 b. boxes of T. C. Williams’s Welcome Nugget tobacco; value, £IOO.

James Ross McKay, hairdresser, reports stolen from the skittle-alley of the Working-men’s Club, on the 14th or 15th ultimo, a gold albert watch-chain, twis.ed links, a knot between every fourth one, small pendant with old-fashioned stone (supposed to be a cairngorm) attached ; a G.B.D. briar-root pipe, round stem, flaw near the amber mouthpiece; and an old steel tobacco-box: value, in all, £3 4s. 6d.

“Mokoia,” s.s. —Mary Langdon reports stolen from her cabin while the steamer was at Dunedin, on the 27th or 28th ultimo, a ladies’ small handbag, made of black croco-dile-skin, with nickel side-clasp, value £l, containing 16s. in silver, three small trunk-keys, two letters signed “F. Langworthy”; a gold bar-brooch, 3 in. long, engraved on face, value £1 10s.; and a small black-and-white leather purse, containing a cheque for £lO, drawn by George Lake on the Bank of Australasia, payable to “ No. .” Stewards suspected, a number of thefts having taken place on the steamer recently. Complainant’s address is, Care of Mr. Justice Mclntyre, Hobart, Tasmania.

Dunedin. —Theft of James Wallace’s saddle : The suspect, Francis Smith, has been arrested by Constable W. Hilliard, Palmerston South police, and sentenced to one month’s imprisonment. Saddle recovered.

Roxburgh.— -Charles Appleby, groom, Horseshoe Bend, reports stolen from off his horse at Miller’s Flat, on the 22nd or 23rd ultimo, a nickel buggy-hames, with about an inch of neck between the rein-rings and the bar of hames (this is unusual in the district), a slight crack in one of the rein rings; and a pair of leather traces with large nickel buckles ; all nearly new : value, £2. Identifiable.

Roxburgh. —The Island Block Gold-mining Company report stolen from Craig Flat, about the 4th August last, a spring-cart collar, a pair of double reins joined in the centre by a throat-lash, and a pair of trace-chains, all in good order; value, £2. Identification doubtful.

Clinton. —John L. Stewart, hairdresser, reports stolen from his shop, during the month of April last, a silver lever hunting - watch, makers Grey and Young, London, No. 9321; value, £3. Suspicion attached to D. Maitland, a blacksmith, about twenty years of age, 5 ft. 8 in. or 9 in. high, brown hair, very little hair on face. He is now at Balclutha.
