Auckland.— Hanley, alias Bob Rogers, is charged on warrant with false pretences on Donald Stewart, bootmaker, on the Bth ultimo. Offender is supposed identical with William Rickelben, for whose description see Police Gazette, 1899, page 137. He obtained a pair of boots, value 165., by falsely representing that he was in the employ of the Freezing Company at Otahuhu.

Waihi. —William Rollo, charged with the theft of Nevill Newbold’s chaff and maize, has been arrested by Chief Detective Grace, Auckland police, and remanded to Paeroa.

Karangahake. — William Waters is charged on warrant with false pretences on Richard Julian Rusden, miner, on the 12th August last. Accused is about forty-five years of age, about 5 ft. 11 in. high, medium build, dark complexion, heavy eyebrows, dark-brown hair moustache and sideboards, very hard of hearing ; dressed in a dark-blue suit, and hard black-felt hat. He falsely represented himself as an agent of the Ocean Accident and Guarantee Corporation (Limited), and thereby obtained from complainant the sum of £2 as payment for insurance.

Feilding.— James Keen is charged on warrant of commitment to Wanganui Gaol for one month’s imprisonment in default of paying £3 153., fine and costs, for trespassing on the Feilding Racecourse. Description : A native of the colony, a jockey and speiler, twenty-five years of age, 5 ft. 7 in. high, square build, fresh complexion, dark hair, clean-shaved. Last seen on the 20th ultimo at Buffer Races, and then wore dark clothes, very loose trousers, and blaok can.

Christchurch. — Joseph Jones is charged on warrant with the theft, on the 19th August last, of a watch, value £5, the property of Martha Rowberr.y, Hayward Terrace. Since recovered. Accused is supposed English, thirty-five years of age, about 5 ft. 8 in. high, stout build, fair complexion, light-brown hair, moustache only, one front tooth missing, a jeweller and canvasser. Travels about buying old gold and jewellery. He obtained the watch to clean, but sold it to a pawnbroker for 155., and is supposed to have gone to Dunedin or Wellington.

Christchurch.— William Beaumont Lyons, charged with breach of the Bankruptcy Act, has returned to Christchurch and surrendered himself for examination. Warrant cancelled.
