Arson.
Eltham. —During the night of the 23rd ultimo the shop of Joseph Embling, bootmaker, was wilfully set on fire and damaged to the extent of about £5. The building and stock was insured in the Phoenix Office for £IOO, the value being about £7O more.
Picton.— On the 2nd ultimo an unoccupied four-roomed cottage, value about £35, the property of Mrs. Isabella Atkinson, of Rangiora, Canterbury, was wilfully destroyed by fire, a quantity of manuka branches, old scrim, and hay having been placed in the lean-to and ignited.
