Hamilton. Patrick O’Brien, farmer, Pukete, reports stolen, about the 25tli August last, a dark-brown mare (medium draught), compact build, aged, about 16 hands high, white streak down face, off hind fetlock white, branded PO on near shoulder; value, £l2.

Hamilton (Waikato). —Frederick Hunt’s mare has been found, the suspect, Joseph Johnson, having left it on the road near Morrinsville, He was charged with stealing the animal, but the case was dismissed.

Frederick William Wilkie, settler, Opunake, Stratford Road, reports stolen, about the 13th August last, nine yearling calves, mixed sexes, roan, red and white, and red coloured, ear-marked with slit down right ear and slit on bottom of left ear, branded FW (conjoined) on either rump ; value, £2 each. Identifiable.

Manaia. —Everett Cave, bridge-builder, reports stolen, between the 21st and 28th August last, a dark-bay harnessgelding, cob build, 15 hands high, four years old, white hind foot, small star on forehead, no brands ; value, £l4.

Oxford (Canterbury). —Frederick Crow, View Hill Road, West Oxford, reports stolen from a paddock, between the 9th and 24th ultimo, eighteen fat sheep, principally half-bred Lincoln and Leicester wethers, two-toothed, some branded WO, some AM (conjoined), and others GX. Those branded WO are ear-marked with two swallow-tails on each ear, a swal-low-tail on near ear, and slit in off ear through centre ; those branded AM (conjoined) by a swallow-tail on near ear; and those branded GX on rear and back of off ear by a piece taken out with nippers, on back of each ear a swallow-tail, in off ear a piece taken out of top, and a piece taken out of lower side; value, 12s. each. Supposed to have been taken by drovers.

Timaru. —James McDougal, farmer, Otaio, reports stolen, about the sth ultimo, between sixty and seventy half- and three-quarter-bred store ewes, various ages, and a black half-bred hogget, all branded VR (conjoined) in black on left flank ; value, £35.

Ophir. —John McKenzie, labourer, Ida Valley Station, reports stolen, in August last, a bay colt, one year old, white star on forehead, two white stripes on hind legs, mottled appearance, no brands ; value, £5. Identifiable.

Waitahuna. William Miller, farmer, Manuka Creek, reports stolen, between the Ist June and the 30th August last, one hundred crossbred breeding-ewes, branded V in red on top of left shoulder, two back bits and fore bit out of left ear ; value, £SO. Identifiable.

Collingwood (Nelson). —Edward Davidson reports stolen, on the 30th August last, a bright-bay thoroughbred entire, age nine years, 16 hands high, white star on forehead, white hind foot, branded Don near shoulder; value, £SO.
