Arson.
Wanganui. About 10.30 p.m. on the 13th instant an attempt was made to set fire to the stables of James S. Smiley, Victoria Avenue, but the flames were extinguished before much damage was done. An inquest was held on the 22nd instant, and a verdict of “ Incendiarism against some person unknown ” returned. The stock and stables were valued at £2,000, and insured for £825 only.
