Rewards

Constable John Kennedy, Clive Police, has been awarded £l2 by the Hawke’s Bay Acclimatisation Society for obtaining five convictions for selling native game without licenses. (93/1000.)

Constable C. Stanyer, Auckland Police, has been awarded £2 for arresting two stragglers from H.M.S. “ Orlando.” (93/1040.) Sergeant A. Clarke and Constable T. Howell, Auckland Police, have been awarded £1 10s. each for arresting an absentee from H.M.S. “Ringdove.” (93/1054.)

Acting-Sergeant E. Mackay, Auckland Police, has been awarded £1 for arresting a straggler from H.M.S. “ Ringdove.” (93/1006.)

Life Insurance Policies

(Circular No. 15/93.) With reference to Circular No. 14, of 28th ultimo (see Police Gazette, 1893, page 104), it is notified for general information and guidance that in each case the policy must be handed over to the Inspector in charge, and is to be forwarded with the constable to any other district to which he may be transferred ; it being retained so long as the constable remains in the Force. Cleaning-gear for Mounted Constables. (Circular No. 16/93.) In future, the under-mentioned articles will be supplied to each mounted constable annually, free of cost, viz.:— In town stations : One curry-comb, one mane-comb, two sponges, two dandrifi-brushes, two body-brushes, two waterbrushes, a chamois-leather, and 41b. of soft-soap. In country stations: One curry-comb, one mane-comb, two dandrifi-brushes, two body-brushes, one sponge, a chamois-leather, and 21b. of soft-soap. This circular will take effect from the Ist instant, and Inspectors in charge of districts will take the necessary steps for the issues to be made from the Defence Stores, Wellington , in the usual manner.
