Deserting Wives and Families, &c.

Westport.— Alexander Gollan is charged on warrant with having deserted his wife, Beatrice, at Ngakawau, since the 2nd January last. Description : Scotch, about forty years of age, sft. 7|in. high, medium build, fair complexion, hair whiskers and moustache turning grey, grey eyes, thin features ; dressed when last seen in dark-tweed suit and soft grey hat. Ho left on the above date to seek employment, and is supposed to have gone to Clutha, Otago.

Auckland. —Henry McGinn, charged with disobeying an order for the support of his wife, has been arrested by Constable H. Clarke.

Invercargill. —John Thomas Williams is charged on warrant with disobeying an order of the Resident Magistrate’s Court, made on the 29th February last, to pay £1 per week towards tbe support of his wife, Sarah. Description : English, a carpenter, sailor, and bootmaker, thirty-two years of age, sft. 3in. high, pale complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, large nose and mouth, crossed flags on left arm ; generally wears an overcoat with fur cuffs. (See also Police Gazette, 1891, page 178.) Offender left Mataura on the 2nd ultimo, supposed for Invercargill, but may leave the colony via Bluff.

Description: Supposed English, a labourer, about forty years of age, sft. Sin. or 6in. high, dark complexion, dark-brown or black hair ; supposed to have gone to the South Island. Complainant and her four children are at present in Gisborne, receiving charitable aid.
