Deserting Wives and Families, &c.
Patrick O’Connor is charged, on warrant with failing to support his son Charles, left with Ann Cairns, Wellington. Description: Irish, a labourer, thirty-nine years of age, sft. lOin. high, stout build, stammers slightly. (See Police Gazette, 1887, pages 206 and 235.) Was at Eketahuna about six months ago. The sum of £3O 10s. was owing on the 4th ultimo. If defendant will pay £lO, and give security for the balance, execution of warrant may be suspended.

Emma King, charged with absconding from the Girls’ Industrial School, Parnell, Auckland, has been arrested by Detective E. Hughes.
Leon De Cleene is charged, on warrant of commitment to Lyttelton Gaol for fourteen days, issued by the Little River Bench, in default of paying £4 Bs., fine and costs for a breach of “ The Animals Protection Act, 1880.” Description : A Belgian, a labourer, thirty-five years of age, sft. Tin. high, medium build, fair complexion, dark hair, brown eyes, large mouth, prominent chin, long nose, shaved except reddish moustache ; generally dressed in brown-tweed coat, moleskin trousers, and soft black-felt hat. Is supposed to have gone to Christchurch on the 2nd ultimo, and spoke of going to Kaiapoi, Lake Coleridge, or Lake Heron ; will most likely be found fishing or shooting ; took a gun with him.
Willie George is charged on warrant with deserting his wife at Petone, Wellington, since the 29th April last. Description : English, a sailor or labourer, fifty-two years of age, sft. 7in. high, medium build, fair complexion, light brown hair whiskers and moustache (whiskers cut short), blue eyes, large prominent nose, full features, some front teeth missing ; anchors, &c., tattooed on arms ; short quick walk, swings his arms very much ; dressed in blue-serge suit and soft-felt hat. Worked at Edward Barber’s, Petone, as gardener, and was seen at the last sittings of the Supreme Court, Wellington.
