Deserting Wives and Families, &c.

Ah Dee and Ah Tin, alias Ah Sliing, Chinese, are charged on warrants of commitment to Invercargill Gaol for one month’s labour each, issued by the Tapanui Bench, in default of paying £3 fine and 10s. costs, each for wilfully trespassing on land near Waikaka, the property of a Mr. Logan. Description : First, a gold-miner, about twenty-seven years of age, medium height and build, long features, scattered hair on face, speaks a little English. Second, a gold-miner, about twenty-five years of age, sft. 7in. high, medium build, high round shoulders, round full face, no hair on face, speaks very little English. They left Gore on the 27th ultimo by train for Riverton or Orepuki.

Isaac Levy is charged on warrant of commitment to Lyttelton Gaol for twenty-four hours’ labour, issued by the Christchurch Bench, in default of paying 7s. fine and costs for being drunk, at Christchurch, on the 22nd ultimo. Description : A native of Portugal, a labourer, fifty-seven years of age, sft. high, medium build, dark complexion, Roman nose, grey hair beard and whiskers and moustache, bald on top of head; usually wears grey-tweed cap with double peak.
