Deserting Wives and Families, &c.

Charles Houston, known as “ Flat-foot Charlie,” is charged, on warrant issued by the Ashburton Bench, with disorderly conduct and making use of obscene language at the Hinds Railway-station on the 13th April last. Description: Irish, a labourer, about forty years of age, about sft. 4in. or sin. high, dark complexion, full beard whiskers and moustache, very flat feet and turns them out when walking, stooped; dressed in dark-tweed coat and vest, moleskin trousers, and soft-felt hat. He was recently employed by Mr. Kennedy, Rangitata Island.

John Kenny is charged, on warrant issued by the Christchurch Bench, with deserting his wife, at Sydenham, since the 11th March last. Description : Irish, a cook, fifty-six years of age, sft. 6in. or 7in. high, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair beard whiskers and moustache turning grey, third finger of left hand off. He was a paper-runner in Christchurch about two years ago. He went into the country in search of employment.
