Deserters from Merchant Vessels.
An apprentice named Batt is charged with deserting from the ship “ Oamaru,” at Dunedin, on the 17th March last, Description: Seventeen years of age, sft. Gin. or Tin. high, pale complexion, round features, large light-coloured eyes, fair hair, no hair on face. He left Dunedin in company with a German seaman, with small fair moustache, belonging to the American barque “Alice Reid.” Both carried swags, and are supposed to have gone into the country. The master of the ship “ Oamaru ” will pay all expenses incurred in connection with, the arrest of Batt, and putting him on board his ship.
