Appointment as Constable on Transfer from the Permanent Militia. Thomas John Johnston, No. 522.
Rcivards. The sum of £1 10s. has been awarded by the Hawke’s Bay Acclimatisation Society to Constable David Strickland, Wairoa Police, in recognition of his services in connection with the prosecution of Robert McKain, fined ss. and costs for shooting game without being licensed. The sum of £2 10s. each has been awarded by the Wellington Acclimatisation Society to Constables Patrick L. Harnett and Patrick Leahy, Lower Hutt and Petone Police, in recognition of their services in connection with the detection and prosecution of Henry Wiseman, fined £3 and costs for illegally fishing with a net in the Hutt River. The sum of £1 has been awarded by Mr. Frederick Mitchell, Wellington, to Detective William L. Chrystal, Wellington Police, in recognition of his services in recovering the sum of £94, which Mr. Mitchell supposed he had lost.
