Horse- and Cattle-stealing.

(See Police Gazette, 1886, page 135.) The horse, the property of J. Donnelly, reported supposed stolen from a paddock at Opawa, has been recovered.

Stolen between the Ist June last and the stli ultimo, from a paddock, at Waddington, Christchurch District, three cross-bred sheep, brands and earmarks not known; the property of Frederick Bull and Albert Hight; value about 12s. 6d. each.

The gelding, the property of the Rev. Thomas Mace Humphreys, supposed stolen from a paddock at Te Arolia, has been recovered.

Supposed stolen on the 13th or 14th ultimo, from a paddock at Palmerston North, a bay hack-gelding, aged, about 15 hands high, black points, branded A on off rump ; the property of William Farmer ; value £B. Identifiable.

John Campbell is charged, on warrant issued by the Naseby Bench, with stealing, on the 30th June last, at Long Valley, near Ida Valley, three sheep; the property of Watson Shennon. Bin. high, medium build, dark complexion, dark hair whiskers paid moustache ; wore moleskin vpst with sleeves, moleskin

trousers, and drab soft felt hat; carried a brown-blanket swag, in which he had a dark waterproof coat. He left his hut at Long Valley on the 13th ultimo. His father is supposed to be employed as a shepherd on a station in Otago, and his grandfather lives at Hampden. A man named Campbell, answering offender’s description, left tho Bluff on the 16th ultimo by the steamer “ Eotomaliana ” for Melbourne.

Supposed stolen between the 7th and 21st ultimo, from a paddock, at Blueskin, a red cow in calf, four years old, unbranded ; the property of Mary Francis Robertson ; value £4. Identifiable.

Supposed stolen about the 16th ultimo, from a paddock, at Ngaruawahia, a light-bay draught-horse, eight years old, 16J hands high, dark points, small blaze on forehead, short tail closely trimmed, hind hoofs white to pastern joints, near fore hoof white with a small sand crack in it, no visible brands, shod all round ; the property of Robert Fleming ; value £l2. Identifiable.
