Paori Parai, charged on warrant of commitment to gaol in default of paying £2 18s. fine and costs for having

assaulted Victor Granville, has been arrested by Constable William Brennan, Cambridge Police. Fine and costs paid.

Martin Sales is charged, on warrant issued by the Christchurch Bench, with deserting his child, at Linwood, near Christchurch, since the 20th ultimo. Description : A native of England, a gardener and labourer, twenty-six years of age, about sft. Sin. high, medium build, dark complexion, dark hair, clean-shaved : generally wears a darkish-tweed suit. He is supposed to have gone to Westland.

He is a rowdy drunkard and a constant frequenter of publichouses. He worked for a time at Kaikoura, Clarence, and Upper Waiau Ferry. He was in Christchurch about three months ago, when he spoke of going to Napier. His wife and children are in very destitute circumstances.
