Deserting Wives and Families, &c.

Henry Goodison is charged, on warrant issued by the Palmerston North Bench, with disobeying an order to pay £1 per month towards the support of his illegitimate child, by Mary Mortensen, since the Ist June last. Description: A native of Australia, a horse-dealer, about twenty-eight years of age, 6 feet 1 or 2 inches high, medium build, sallow complexion, dark hair, beard, whiskers, and moustache. Identifiable. (See Police Gazette, 1884, pages 45 and 73.) Said to be employed curing bacon at Whakatane, Bay of Plenty.

John Langford, alias Black Jack, is charged, on warrant issued by the Wellington Bench, with deserting his wife, Ellen Langford, and five children, at Wellington, since about the Ist June last. (For description see Police Gazette, 1884, page 124.)

Frederick Bordman is charged on warrant of commitment to the Napier Gaol for six months’ hard labour, issued by the Cambridge Bench, with disobeying an order, since the 18th January last, to pay 7s. per week towards the support of his illegitimate male child, and a further sum of £B, expenses attendant on its birth, together with £5 155., costs of Court. Description: Supposed German, labourer, twentysix years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, medium build, fair complexion, fair hair, whiskers, and moustache, husky voice, speaks English fluently; w'as employed until latterly driving the coach between Napier and Ohinemutu.
