Deserters from Merchant Vessels.
Charles Miller and James Leal, able seamen, are charged, on warrants issued by the Wellington Bench, with deserting from the ship “Hurunui,” at Wellington, during the nights of the 9th and 10th instant. Description : Miller is English, twenty-five years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stout build, dark complexion, dark hair and eyes, no hair on face, slovenly appearance. Leal is English, twenty-four years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, medium build, sallow complexion, dark hair, no hair on face, slovenly gait. A reward of £3 each is offered for their arrest.
John Magnus Eklof, Carl John Osterberg, John Gueslaf Weller, and William C. Stevens arc charged with deserting from the schooner “Prey,” at Dunedin, on the morning of the 3rd instant. Description: Eklof is a Swede, eighteen years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, stout build, blonde complexion, no hair on face. Osterberg is a Swede, eighteen years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stout build, blue eyes, blonde complexion, no hair on face. Weller is a Swede, twenty-three years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, stout build, no hair on face except dark moustache. St vens is English, twenty-three years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, slight build, pale face, dark hair and eyebrows, and small dark moustache.
Charles Farmer, alias Armidt, is charged, on warrant issued by the Wellington Bench, with refusing to join the ship “Margaret Galbraith,” at Wellington, on the 21st instant. Description: English, an able seamen, twenty-seven years of age, about 5 feet high, stout square build, dark hair, slight dark whiskers and moustache; wore blue-serge jacket and white-moleskin trousers. He is supposed to have shipped on board the steamer “ Takapuna.” A reward of 10s. is offered for his arrest.
