James Wells is charged, on warrant issued by the Hamilton Bench, with having, on or about the sth ultimo, at Tuhikaramea, embezzled £45 7s. 3d., the moneys of the Tuhikaramea Highway Board, by whom he was employed as rate-collector. Description: English, about fifty years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, stout build, dark complexion and eyes, dark hair turning grey, upper front teeth out, shows his eye-teeth when smiling ; usually wears darktweed suit, shabby appearance.

William Davidson is charged, on warrant issued by the Wellington Bench, with having, in March last and at other times, obtained goods, &c., value £BO 11s. 7d., from Messrs. Thompson, Shannon, and Go., at Wellington, by false representations. Description: a cabinetmaker, thirtyseven years of age, 5 fee’t 7 or 8 inches high, slight build, pale fair complexion, blue or grey eyes, rather sharp nose, thin features, fair hair beard whiskers and moustache, all rather thin and straight, slightly round-shouldered; usually wears grey-tweed suit and black hat, smart active appearance and movements.

On the SOtli ultimo or Ist instant thirty-six planks, 12 feet long by 12 inches by 3 inches, the property of Janies Calder, which were placed on the bridge at Riverton for the purpose of repairing it, were maliciously thrown into the river.

Between the 9th and 11th instant two panes of glass, value 45., the property of Alexander Wilson, were maliciously broken in the windows of the Presbyterian Church, Adelaide Road, Wellington; during the same time four windows of the church were maliciously smeared with excrement.

Between the 30th ultimo and 2nd instant, at Ashburton, three panes of plate-glass, 8 feet by 4 feet, value £42, were maliciously broken in the windows of the shop of R. Alcom.

During the night of the 14th instant the brass plate in front of the premises of Messrs. Wright, Stephenson, and Co., High Street, Dunedin, was maliciously wrenched off and taken away. The plate has since been recovered by ActingSergeant Thomas Livingston.

On the morning of the 18th instant two panes of glass, value £l, were maliciously broken in the shop-window of William Willis, Ross Place, Lawrence.
