Stolen between the Bth and 20th ultimo, from an unoccupied house in Dublin Street, Wanganui, a 28-gallon cask, with split stave near bunghole, and putty of a pink colour roughly put on, containing about 20 gallons of elderberry wine; the property of Alice Chipman ; value £6. Cask identifiable.
(See Police Gazette, 1883, page 111.) The tarpaulin, the property of Robert Rae, reported stolen at Waihi, Geraldine Road, has been recovered.
Stolen during the night of the sth ultimo, from a shed at Ashburton, a new pair of steel hames with hole in top, and a pair of blinkers with plated ornaments ; the property of George Rickards ; value £1 12s. Identifiable.
Stolen between the 12th and 15th ultimo, from the brewery of William Cumming, Hamilton East, Auckland, a nearly-new five-chambered revolver, old style, made at Liverpool, maker’s name not known ; value £5. Identifiable.
Stolen on the 17th ultimo, at Gravel Pit, Colac Bay, Southland, a case, containing twelve bottles of brandy, case branded “ F. Dessaydier and Co., from E. Pvke and Co., 28 Stafford Street, Dunedin, N M Co C, R and star;” the property of Ly Chong ; value £2 16s. Identification doubtful.

Stolen on the 21st or 21 nd ultimo, from the yard of William Kent, Finnerty Road, Ngaire, Taranaki, a red rooster, three black Spanish liens, and two yellow common liens; value 12s. Identifiable.
Stolen between the 301 h ultimo and 2nd instant, from the gaol-boat at Port Chalmers, two oars, about 13 feet long, leather boxing on one, about 3J feet from end ; the property of the Government; value 12s. Identifiable.
Stolen on the Ist or 2nd instant, from Fleet Street, Dunedim a wooden case, 4 by 3 feet, marked T. McG. within diamond, lined with zinc; the property of Thomas McGill; value 8sIdentifiable.
(See Police Gazette, 1883, page 111.) Tiie portmanteau, the properly of the Rev. T. L. Stanley, supposed stolen from a railway-carriage between Outrarn and Milton, has been recovered.
Stolen about the 20th May last, from an unoccupied house, at Halfway Bush, Southland, an old double-barrel gun, maker Hodget, London, one new hammer and nipple, iron ramrod ; two flasks containing sporting powder and shot, and a carpenters’ hammer; the property of Alexander Rennie Hay ; value £4. Identifiable.
(See Police Gazette, 1883, page 111.) Stealing a case of oranges, at Port Chalmers, the property of the Union Steamship Company : Edward Lane has been arrested by Constable William Henry Higgins, Port Chalmers Police, for this offence, and sentenced to one month’s labour.

The saddle and part of the bridle, the property of Samuel Millar (not “ James Millar” as previously gazetted), s:olen from the Leeston Hotel Stables, Leeston, have beeu recovered, and traced to the possession of James Hennelly, arrested by Detective Maurice O’Connor, Christchurch Police, and committed for trial.
Stolen on the 22nd or 23rd ultimo, at Iseeeliley’s Bridge, Haehaetomoana River, Canterbury, a 2-foot spirit-level, a 10-incli carpenters’ square, a f-inch auger, an ebony gauge, a claw hammer, and some pieces of kauri timber painted white ; the property of George Hepworth ; value £2 10s. Identifiable.
Stolen on the 22nd or 23rd ultimo, from Yathan Street, Invercargill, a brown-paper parcel, containing a single-breasted paget-coat, brown worsted cloth, diagonal pattern, an outside breast-pocket, and two pockets in tails; and a single-breasted vest of same material, with collar; the property of Samuel Colbran ; value £5. Identifiable.
Stolen on the 12th or 13tli ultimo, from the clothes-line of Walter Lowell, at Opotiki, two white shirts, two chemises, two children’s flannel petticoats, a white tablecloth, a nightdress, two pairs of woollen socks, one pair dark the other grey, and two pairs of children’s woollen socks ; value £3 Os. Gd. Identifiable.
Stolen between the loth and 21st ultimo, at Ringway, near Otautau, Southland, ten bags of damaged oats; the property of Robert Glendining; value £3. Identification doubtful.
(See Police Gazette, 1879, page 79.) The saddle, the property of George Gardiner, stolen from a shed at Tauranga, has been recovered, and traced to the possession of Rawiri Puhirake, alias Noa Taratikitiki, who was summoned for the offence by the Tauranga Police, but the case was dismissed.
