(From Police Gazette , 1883, pages 86 and 106) William Thomas, alias Cumming, alias Lloyd, &c., age from thirty-five to forty years, height 5 feet 6 or 7 inches, stout build, dark complexion, dark hair beard whiskers and moustache ; wore dark tweed clothes ; for on the 28th ultimo forging

and uttering to William David Furge, at Adelaide, a cheque for £3 10s. on the Bank of South Australia, purporting to be signed by Laughton and Co. There are many similar cases against this offender, who is identical with Gteorge Thompson, alias Roberts. (See Police Gazette, 1879, page 37, “ Miscellaneous Information.”) —C. 980. Re William Thomas, alias Cumming, &c., on warrant, for forging and uttering : This offender is identical with Arthur Leslie, alias Henderson, alias McDonald, convicted at Sydney in August, 1879, on similar charges.—C. 980. He is also identical with Arthur Leslie, convicted on the 23rd August, 1881, at Melbourne, for fraudulent representations, and is described as follows : Forty-six years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, sallow complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, a native of London or America, says he is an agent and surveyor.
