Alexander James Smith is charged, on warrant issued bj the Auckland Bench, with the larceny as a bailee, at Auckland, on the Bth ultimo, of 125., the money of Mrs. Anne Yesey. Description: Twenty or twenty-one years of age, 5 feet high, slight build, fair complexion, brown hair, no hair on face ; wore black coat, moleskin trousers, and soft drab billycock hat.

Stolen about the 30th ultimo, from Brown’s stable, Wilson Street, Wanganui, a bogskin saddle, considerably worn, tree and one of sides recently repaired, white-web girth, no leathers or irons; the property of Alfred Dainty; value £2 10s. Identifiable.

Stolen on the 22nd and 30th ultimo, from railway-vans, supposed at the Oamaru Railway-station, a common basket-jar, containing 5 gallons of Royal blend whiskey and about four bottlos of Irish whiskey; the property of the Government; value £4> 12s.

Stolen on the 18th ultimo, from the verandah of the house of Dudley Eyre, at Wanganui, a nearly-new door-mat, about 3 feet long, 5 over 26 and 5 over H marked on back; value 7s. 6d. Identifiable.

Stealing Jonathan Congden’s gold watch, &c., from the cabin of the barque “ Aberngte,” at Lyttelton.—The watch was pledged on the 28th June last, at Timaru, by a man who gave the name of James Dill, about twenty-nine years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, stout build, brown hair, clean-shaved except brown moustache ; wore dark clothes and cap or black-felt hat. The chain and ring have not been recovered. Complainant has left the colony.

Stolen on the 22nd ultimo, from the buggy of Peter Bell, at Wanganui, a nearly-new dark-grey woollen rug or plaid, 4 yards long and If yards wide, colonial manufacture; value £2 ss. Identification doubtful.

Stolen about the end of June or early in July last, from the railway-works, Newport, Russell, a grey-calico tent and fly, 6 by & feet, marked “ McDonald; ” the property of Alexander Johnston; value £1 7s. 6d. Identifiable. Suspicion attached to Robert Stewart and Robert Moriarty. Description : Stewart is Scotch, a navvy, twenty-six years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, sandy hair, beard, and moustache, cheeks shaved. Moriarty is Irish, a navvy, twenty-seven years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark hair, whiskers, and moustache. They are supposed to have gone to the Kawakawa Gum Fields.

Stolen between the Ist June last and the 16th ultimo, from a boat at Cave Rock, Sumner, Christchurch, an ash steer-oar, about 16 feet long ; the property of the Government; value 16s. Identification doubtful.

Stolen between the 19th and 26th ultimo, from the pigeonhouse of Roger Deacon, at Fendaltown, near Christchurch, thirty-nine blue checker pigeons and one silver checker pigeon; Talue £SO.
