Stolen about the 16th instant, from a cabin on board the steamer “ Wakatipu,” at Port Chalmers, a brown-leather portmanteau, 2£ feet long, 15 inches deep, and 20 inches wide, containing a £lO note on the Colonial Bank, twelve sovereigns, a gentlemen’s gold blood-stone finger ring with an old gold ring soldered on inside to make it small, and four white-linen shirts ; the property of William Cromarty ; value £26. Portmanteau and ring identifiable.

Stolen about the 14th instant, from the fowlhouse of Mary Cholmondeley, at Opawa, near Christchurch, a dun-coloured brahma rooster and five light-coloured brahma pullets; value 15s. Identification doubtful.

Stolen during the night of the 29th ultimo, from the goodsshed at the wharf, Patea, two cases of Hennessey’s brandy, marked JP with black paint on top; the property of William Dale ; value £6. Cases identifiable. Suspicion attached to the crew of the schooner “ Forest Queen.”

Tiik sheepskins, the property of John Nicholson, stolen at Fern Bush, have been recovered, and Arthur Brown and Arthur Muggleton arrested for the offence by Constable Hugh Mulholland, Winton Police. Brown was sentenced to fourteen days’ labour, and Muggleton discharged.
