Inquests.
An inquest was held on the 24th ultimo, at Napier, by Thomas Ditchings, Esq., Coroner, on the body of Thomas Duffy, who dropped dead in a boarding-house there on the day previous. Verdict: Died from effusion of blood on the brain. Description : A native of the North of Ireland, a labourer, forty years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stout build, dark complexion and hair, light-brown goatee and moustache, no whiskers. He had in his possession a New Zealand medal of merit, with his name engraved thereon. It is believed he has no relatives in the colony, and that he died intestate.
An inquest was held on the 4tli of April last, at the Kaihu Hotel, by Thomas S. Webb, Esq., Coroner, on the body of John Corey, who was drowned in the North Wairoa River on the 29th of the previous month. Verdict: Round drowned. Description : A native of America, a gum-digger, forty years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, stout build, fresh complexion, brown hair, red bushy whiskers and moustache. It is believed he has no relatives in the colony, and that he died intestate.
