Deserting Wives and Families, &c.
William Stare; is charged, on warrant issued by the Ashburton Bench, with refusing to support his illegitimate child, by Hester McFeeters, at Ashburton, since about the 18th of January last. Description: A native of the North of Ireland, a farmer, thirty-one years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, medium build, fair complexion, fair hair, beard, whiskers, and moustache, good-looking. He was seen in New* Plymouth in April last, where he went by the name of William Jones, but it is supposed he has left there and gone to Wanganui. John McKeown, farmer, Palmerston North, is his brother-in-law.

Edmund Buxton, charged on warrant with disobeying a summons to answer a charge of damaging property, has been arrested by Constable Denis Black, Hurunui Police, and ordered to pay £8 Is., fine and costs.

William Hunt, charged on warrant with deserting his wife and family at Kumara, has been arrested by Constable Tapp, Inglewood Police, fined Is., and ordered to pay 15s. per week towards the maintenance of his family.
