It Air ii Baktle is charged, on warrant issued by the Christchurch Bench, with having, on the 11th ultimo, at Christchurch, embezzled £1 Is., the moneys of John Leaf Wilson, by whom ho was employed. Description : English, a practical engineer, thirty-five years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, medium build, fresh complexion, black hair and eyes; very dark beard, whiskers, and moustache; wore dark-tweed suit. He was employed by Mr. Wilson as foreman of a stone-mill at South Bridge Junction. There are other charges of a similar nature pending against this offender.

James Blyth is charged, on warrant issued by the Dunedin Bench, with having, on the 9th of March last, at Dunedin, embezzled £9 10s., the moneys of the Albion Brewing and Malting Company, by whom he was employed. Description : Scotch, a brewers’ traveller and collector, forty years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, stout build, fresh complexion, brown hair worn short; light brown beard, whiskers, and moustache; erect gait, smart active appearance; wore double-breasted light-tweed sac coat, trousers and vest of same material, and black-felt hat; drunken appearance. There are several other charges of a similar nature pending against this offender. He surrendered to the Dunedin Police, and was admitted to bail to appear at the City Police Court there on the 29th ultimo, but failed to attend. It has been ascertained that he left Timaru on the evening of the 28th ultimo, by the schooner “Annie Bow,” for Sydney.

Charles Henry Wilkinson, charged with embezzlement, committed on James Russell Hamilton, at Dunedin, left Auckland on the Ist ultimo by the steamer “Australia,” for San Francisco, under the name of “ Cowers.” He was accompanied by his wife and child.

On the 10th ultimo, some large stones were placed on the rails of the Greymouth and Brunnerton Railway line, at a dangerous curve near Wallsend. The stones were not observed in time to stop the train, but fortunately the locomotive pushed them off the rails without sustaining any injury.
