There were nine contestants in the Abbotsford Welter, Kilbrogan being a better favourite than Golden King, while Helicon, Tin Soldier and Bellshire counted many friends. Aycliffe led from a splendid start, but Golden King was the pilot rounding the home bend. Here Bellshire and Kilbrogan joined issue, and a thrilling finish saw the former prevail’by a neck from Kilbrogan, with Golden King third. The results were: — OWIHO HURDLES. One mile and a-half. 4—H.
