WAIPA RACING CLUB.

The weights for the Waipa meeting were duly issued last week, and the acceptances were due on Friday but did not make their appearance until Monday, and are now before us. They are as satisfactory as could have been expected, and it is to be hoped that the majority will compete in the interests of this progressive club, who' have to some extent been unfortunate in having to fit in a day’s racing (postponed from the spring) at a time when so many other meetings are also requiring attention. The unexpected happened when the club was obliged to postpone the meeting, and the reinstatement of the days of racing lost by some of the Waikato clubs soon after the war started brought into competition for autumnal racing a competitive force that was not thought of. Then getting out the weights with a meeting intervening is not advisable at times. However, there is plenty of material for an interesting afternoon’s sport, and there should be generous patronage from the settlers and sports of the districts all round, and from horse owners. They have long been clamouring for more racing, and have in the Waipa Club one which has made an honest attempt to provide them with an up-to-date course. They can rest assured that stakes will go up in value in due course.
