FEILDING JOCKEY CLUB.

EASTER MEETING.

One of the most popular racing fixtures in the North Island is undoubtedly the Easter Meeting of the Feilding Jockey Club, which this year will take place on April 1 and 2 next. The club have again arranged an excellent programme for their two days’ meeting, the various events will all be liberally endowed with stake money, and no effort is being spared to make the approaching gathering a record one in the annals of this enterprising club. The chief event is the Feilding Cup, of 500 sovs. (1% miles), to be decided on the opening day, and a representative 'field of the leading handicap horses will no doubt be found claiming engagements in this old-establish-ed event. A further chance to earn

distinction will be afforded the Cup candidates on the second day, when the Easter Handicap, of 350 sovs. (1% miles) will come up for decision. The big sprint on the opening day will be the Mangaone Stakes Handicap, of 300 sovs., six furlongs, while on the second day the Denbigh Stakes, of 250 sovs., six furlongs, will again see the sprinters in action. These two remunerative events should both make a strong appeal to owners of eligible candidates to have their horses represented at the meeting. A hurdle race is set down for decision each day, viz , the Kawa Kawa Hurdles Handicap, of 200 sovs. (1% miles), and the Kimbolton Hurdles Handicap, of 200 sovs. (1% miles). The Maiden Stakes, of 150 sovs. (five furlongs), for two-year-clds and upwards that have never won a flat race at the time of entry, weight 9.0, and the Waiata Stakes, of 150 tovs (5% furlongs), for two-year-olds and upwards that have never won a flat race exceeding 50 sovs. in value at time of starting, weight 8.0, are both certain to draw fields well above the average. In addition to the events already named a number of hack and welter events figure on the programme, which caters for all classes of the thoroughbred. Saturday, March 9, at 8.30 p m., has been fixed as the final date for the receipt of nominations, which close with the Secretary, Mr. Edward Goodbehere, Box 45, Feilding.
