HIS MAJESTY’S.

PAUL DUFAULT CONCERTo. A musical event of great interest is the iorthcommg Auckland season o that great tenor Paul Dufault. Although Mr. Dufault is well known tc all local music-lovers from his Previous appearance here with Md lie. Nordica and Mdlle. De Cisneros, hie wruicoming season here is of especial interest owing to the fact that n comes as a i ecognised star, at the head of his own company. Paul Dufault is a French-Canadian, born in the little town of Bhgot, near Montreal, Canada- His parents were devout Roman Catholics, and fearful of a public career for their son, whose life' they hoped would be devoted to the priesthood. But young Dufault, though a staunch Catholic, could no deny the claims of his beautiful voice and his ardent longing for a muswal career. At seventeen his college course, was completed and the decision as to his future career had to be made, and, at last, after strenuous objections, his. parents yielded to his desire, and gave their consent that Paul .should pursue a musical career. Long since they have forgotten their objection to their son’s chosen vocation, and take the greatest possible pride in his tremendous success. Every summer Mr. Dufaplt returns Lfo the little town where his parents live, and gives a concert to which ah are invited, and for which nd charge is made. His coming is made a gala season for the entire district, and a -week of festivities is enjoyed, while the little Catholic Church, where the great tenor sang as a boy, always holds a special song service to commemorate his return. “It is the 'brightest spot in the whole year,” says Mr- Dufault, “and one which blots out the memory of many weary days.” Mr. Dufault’s Auckland season will comprise four concerts, the first of which will be given on Tuesday, March 3rd, and the remaining three on the following Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. The concerts will be held at His Majesty’s Theatre.
