ELDERSLIE STUD SALE.

The dispersal sale of Mr. J. BReid’s thoroughbred stock took place on Monday at Elderslie. There was a large attendance of buyers from all parts of the Dominion and Australia. The four imported stallions were sold as follows: — Gns. Charlemagne 11., Messrs. Thompson Bros. (N.S.W.) 2300 Downshire, Mr .Wm.. Thompson 600 Varco, Mr. Wm. Thompson 600 Vasco, Mr. Henry Paterson 850 The highest-priced brood mares were sold as follows: — Gns. Ingoda, Mr- S. Green (Victoria) 800 Armigera, Mr. Clark • • • • • Marcobelle, Mr. S. Green <vic.) 875 The others ranged from 35 guineas to 400 guineas. The fillies and mares not served sold at from .70 guineas to 550 guineas, the highest price being Pretrovna, at 550 guineas, Mr. S. Green being the buyer. The foals sold at from 25 guineas to 350 guineas, Mr. G. D. Greenwood purchasing at the higher figures.
