THE WINDSOR RINK.
Mr J. w. H. Martin, manager of the Windsor Rink, is nothing if not ingenious, and is always devising some new items that shaJl prove attractive to_ skaters and spectators. Already this week there have been see-saw, toboggan, and. skipping events, which seem to have given skating an extra impetus, judging by the entries they evoked. To-night (Thursday) for the first time in New Zealand a hand polo match is to take place between representatives of H.M.S. Pioneer and the Windsor rink. Expert skaters have been selected, and the event should be exceptionally interesting. What should be highly amusing is also billed for to-night, when a novice race for blue jackets who have never been on skates, will be run. As they are to be in fancy dress, and it is rumoured some of the latest confections are to be seen, the effect must be seen to be described. On Monday night there is to be a “white” demonstration, when everyone is expected to don that colour. Arrangements are being made for a succession of novelties.
