NORTH SHORE ROWING CLUB.
The North Shore Rowing Club held double-sculling races on Saturday, for trophies presented by Mr. H. Reimers, an honorary member of the club. The course was from the cable steamer Iris to the Devonport Feiry Company’s pontoon. The races were of a most successful character, which speaks highly for the competitors as these were the first events of the kind held by the club. Competition
was very keen throughout. The results being as follows: — First Heat: F. Bennett’s pair defeated Robertson’s by a length. Second Heat: E. Gilmour’s pair defeated G. Seager’s by a yard. Third Heat: E. Bailey’s pair defeated R. Spinley’s by a couple of feet. Fourth Heat: G. Buchanan’s pair defeated M. Harrison’s by one and aquarter lengths. Semi-Final: E. Gilmour and L. Spinley defeated F. Bennett and Knight by a yard. E. Bailey and H. Grubb defeated G. Buchanan and Bennett by three-quarters of a length. Final: E. Bailey and H. Grubb, B. Goldwater (cox.) defeated E. Gilmour and L. Spinley, A. McAnneney (cox.) by a length.
