WAIPUKURAU JOCKEY CLUB.
The Waipukurau Jockey Club’s annual meeting on Monday was held in showery weather. There was a large attendance. Four bookmakers were licensed. The results were as under:— MAIDEN PLATE, seven furlongs.— Lord Irwell, 8.12, 1; Stormlight, 8.12, 2; Arctic, 8.11, 3. Time, Im. 32 3-ss. EASTER HANDICAP, once round the course.—Separator, 7.7 (carried 7.10), 1; Millenial, 6.9, 2; Obscurity, 7.0 (carried 7.5), 3. Also started: Barca and Faunus. Time, 2m. HACK HANDICAP, one mile and aquarter.—Captain Jingle, 7.6, 1; Niwaru, 7.10, 2; Tupaea. 7.0, 3. Time, 2m. 13s. WAIPUKURAU HANDICAP, one mile, and a-quarter.—Lamsdorff, 6.7, 1; Glissade, 7.9, 2; Amato, 7.6, 3. Also started: California, Berengaria, and Rose Lethe. Won by a nose, with Amato a neck further off. Time, 2m. 11 4-ss. TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP, four furlongs.—Sea Eagle, 9.9, 1; Waikehua, 7.4, 2; Derelict, 7.0, 3. Erica also started. Time, 50. 3-ss. LADIES’ HANDICAP, one mile and ahalf.—Karakatauria, 11.8, 1; Dorando, 10.12, 2; Blackwater. 10.11, 3. Also started: Dan Leno, Centaur, Kaiwaka Maid, and Stormlight. Won easily.. Centaur and Stormlight fell. Time, 2m. 465. FLYING HANDICAP, six furlongs.— Mundic, 9.9, 1; Voetgang. 8.9, 2; Idealism, 8.0, 3. Also started: Glissade. Rose Lethe, Burton, and Harekoa. Won easily by a length. Time, Im. 16 3-ss. FINAL HACK HANDICAP, five furlongs.—Amaru, 8.5, 1; Elya, 7.12, 2; Useful, 7.7, 3. Time, Im. 4 4-SS.
