NOT WHAT HE WANTED.
The following letter was sent by a man to his son at college:—“ My dear sir,—l write to send you some new socks, which your mother has just knit by cutting down some of mine. Your mother sends you ten pounds without my knowledge, and, for fear you would spehd it wisely, I have kept back half and only sent you five. Your mother and I are well, except that your sister has got the measles. I hope you will do honour to my teachings; if you do not you are a donkey, and your mother and myself are your affectionate parents!”
