OHINEMURI JOCKEY CLUB’S MEETING.

FIRST DAY. The Ohinemuri Jockey Club’s annual race meeting was commenced on Thursda iny. fine weather. There was a fair attendance, but hardly up to that of former years. In some of - the events there were g*ood fields, but in others the number of starters was rather small, while in one event only one horse started and had a walk-over. The meeting will and had a walk-over. The results were:— SHORTS HANDICAP. Four furlongs. Mr. W. C. Ring’s Mighty Atom, 7.13 (Whittaker) j Mr. C. Winder’s Hikuai, 8.2 (Buchanan) 2 Mr. E. A. Lindsay’s Goldwin, 7.8 (McMillan) g Also started: Lady French, 16.6; Lady Dot, 9.11; Neva, 6.7. From a straggling start Mighty Atom showed in front, and. leading throughout, won easily by a length. Time, 50 2-ss. HURDLE RACE. Two miles. Mr. J. Martin’s Pierre, 9.12 (Deeble) .. 1 Mr. A. Cooper’s Kaitangata, 9.13 (Scott) j Mr H. Winder’s King, 9.13 (Windsor) 3 Also started: Flying Cloud, 9.0. 'At the start King and Kaitangata went to the front, and they led for the first round, when Pierre came with a good run and took command, and, running well, he won by half-a-dozen lengths. The Ohinemuri Jockey Club’s annual race meeting was concluded on Saturday in fine weather, in the presence of a good attendance. The results are as follow:— WAITEKAURI PLATE. Five furlongs. Mr. T. Auckram’s Lady Dot, 9.3 (WhitMr. A. Webber’s’ Mahinga, 9.8 (McMillan) 2 Mr. R. Millet’s Hyperion, 8.12 (R. Brown) 3 These were the only starters. Mahinga led for about three furlongs, when Lady Dot put in a good run, and won a well-judged race by half-a-neck. Time, Im. 3 2-ss. WAIKTNO WELTER HANDICAP. Seven furlongs. Mr. C. W. Coleman’s Prince Leo, 9.10 (Whittaker) 1 Mr. A. Alley’s Waiotahi, 8.13 (Buchanan) '. 2 Mr. N. Dickey’s Napenape, 8.1 (Carter) 3 Also started: Walpa 8.4, Sir Rupert 8.2, Taiaha 8.1. From a good start Waiotahi showed in front, but was soon dislaced by Napenape. Coming to the straight, Prince Leo came with a strong run, and won by a neck. Napenape being two lengths away, third. Time, Im. 28s. HURDLES. One mile and threeduarters. Mr. W. Cunningham’s Sabre, 9.12 (Howard) 1 Mr. J. Martin’s Pierre, 10.9 (Deeble) ... 2 Mr. S. Tanner’s Rangihaeta, 10.6 (J. H. Percival) 3 These were the only starters. Sabre led at the start, closely followed by Pierre. Rangihaeta jumped badly, and got further behind. Sabre and Pierre both jumped well, and a good race resulted in a win for Sabre by a length and a-half. Time, 3m. 265. FLYING HANDICAP. Four furlongs. Mr. C. Winder’s Hikuai, 8.3 (Buchanan) 1 Mr. W. The first time round Totika was leading. closely followed bv Noteorinl. Round the back Flyiner Cloud went up, and won by a good length. Time, 2m. 14s. FINAL HANDICAP. Six furlongs. Mr. C. From a good start Lady Dot showed in front, followed by Necktie. In the straight Sir Rupert put in a very fast run, and just beat Necktie by a head, Lady. Dot being a length away, third.
