NELSON RACES.

The Nelson races opened on Friday in showery weather, and the going was heavy. Results:— TRIAL HACK HANDICAP, five furlongs.—Curator, 8.0, 1; King Try, 8.6, 2; Pharmaceutical, 8.0, 3. Also started: Balmy Breeze 8.6, Bridesmaid 8.0, and King’s Wreath 8.11. Won by a length and a-half. Time, lm. 5 2-ss. TROT, one mile and a-half. — King John. 305., 1; Chieftain, 305., 2; Glenidol, 45., 2. Scratched: Poriri 125., Companion 245., Conqueror 285., Holland 315., and Remie 395. Won easily. Time, 4m. 24 3-ss. NELSON CUP, one mile.—San Fernando (R. Hatch), 8.3, 1; Lawn Rose (J. Tapp), 8.0, 2; Silken Rein (F. Langstone), 9.8, 3. Also started: Golden Gate 8.8, and Gold Bird 6.12. Won by three-quarters of a length, half a length between second and third horses. Time, lm. 46 3-ss. HOPE HACK HANDICAP, seven furlongs.—King Try, 6.7, 1; Bracken, 8.2, 2; Lucretius, 9.0, 3. Won easily. Time, lm. 30 4-ss. HANDICAP TROT, two miles.—Conqueror, 425., 1; Maud Allerton, 305., 2; Oak Tree, 305., 3. Scratched: King Teddy, Glenidol, Tom Tit, Lumberman, and Ding Dong. Won by two lengths. Time, sm. 525. GRANDSTAND HANDICAP, six furlongs.—Vinco, 6.13, 1; Lothair, 8.8, 2; Thera, 8.3, 3. Only starters. Won 1 a length. Time, lm. 19s. TELEGRAPH HANDICAP, five furlongs.—Lucretius, 8.12, 1; Glen, 8.10, 2; Glen Tui, 7.13, 3. Only starters. Won by a short neck. Time, lm. 7 3-ss. WELTER HANDICAP, seven furlongs. —Gaelic, 8.9, 1; San Fernando, 10.2, 2; Bracken, 8.13, 3. Also started: Gold Bird 8.3. Won by a short head. Time, lm. 34 2-ss.

SECOND DAY. The meeting was concluded on Saturday m fine weather. The course was heavy after the rains, but the racing, although the fields weie small, was most interesting. Results were as follow:— ELECTRIC HANDICAP, four furlongs.—Purakau, 8.5, 1; Bridesmaid, 7.7. 2; Curator, 8.2, 3. Also started: Lucretius 9.5, Ora Pinsent 7.9, Balmy B-eeze 7.0. It was a great race, Purakau winning by half-a-length. Time, 535. HANDICAP TROT, two miles and ahalf.—Maud Allerton, 285., 1; Doyle, 545., 2; Stella Leigh, 355., 3. Scratched: Glen Idol and Poriri. Won by five lengths. Time, 7m. 4s. RICHMOND PARK HANDICAP, one mile and a distance.—Lawn Rose, 8.5, 1; Gaelic 8.1, 2; San Fernando, 9.3, 3. These were the only staters, and Lawn Rose won by a length and a-half, there being half-a-length between the second and third horses. Time, 2m. 6 4-ss. STOKE HACK HANDICAP, six furlongs.—Curator, 8.7, 1; King Try, 8.0, 2: Bridesmaid, 7.12, 3. Scratched: Vinco and Bracken. Curator won by two lengths. Time, lm. 20 2-ss. TROT, one mile and a-half.—Oaktree, 225., 1; Ned Corbett, 35., 2; Lady Dickens, 365., 3. AH started. Oaktree won by three lengths. Time, 4m. 14 3-ss. WAIMEA HANDICAP, five furlongs — Glen Spring, 7.11, 1; Lothair, 9.0, 2; Vinco, 8.3, 3. Also started: Shera 7.13. Glen Sparing won by a length. Time, lm. 5 WELTER HACK.
