THE AVONDALE JOCKEY CLUB’S AUTUMN MEETING.

The Autumn Meeting of the Avondale Jockey Club is fixed for Saturday and Wednesday, April 20 and 24. The western course is one of the best appointed in the colony, and the meetings on it are always of an enjoyable nature. For the fixture a very good list of events has been drawn up, particulars of which will be found in our advertising columns. The items on the opening day are the Maiden Plate of 50sovs, 6 furlongs; Hurdle Race of 70sovs, 2 miles; Oakley Handicap of 50sovs, 5 furlongs; Juvenile Handicap of 60sovs, 5 furlongs; Avondale Handicap of 175sovs, 1% miles; First Pony Handicap of 40sovs, 5 furlongs; Chevalier Handicap of 50sovs, 4 furlongs; and Railway Handicap of 80sovs, 6 furlongs. The programme for the second day is made up of the Maiden Hurdles of 60sovs, 1% miles; Flying Handicap of 70sovs, 4 furlongs; Second Pony Handicap of 40sovs, 5 furlongs; Autumn xxandicap of 130sovs, one mile; Nursery Handicap of 60sovs, 6 furlongs; Steeplechase of 70sovs, 3 miles; Mount Roskill Handicap of 50sovs, 6 furlongs; and Waitakerei Handicap of 80sovs, 6 furlongs. This is a satisfactory card, which should meet with the approval of owners. Mr. H. H. Hayr, the secretary, will take nominations for the Avondale Autumn, Steeplechase and Railway Handicaps on Friday, March 29, while general entry night is on Friday, April 5.
