FIRST DAY. The spring meeting of the North Otago Jockey Club commenced in fine weather. The attendance was good. The totalisator investments amounted to £3508, an increase of £5OO on last spring meeting. The results are as follows: — SPRING HANDICAP, four furlongs. —Sea King, 7.9, 1; Curiosity, 9.5, 2; Bantam Shot, 7.5, 3; Ouidaform, Ilarita, Miss Gall and The Rapparee were scratched. Won at the finish easily by two lengths. Time, 50 2-ss. Dividends, £2 18s and 14s. STEPNIAK STAKES, four furlongs. —Prism, 7.9, 1; Pretty Nell, 7.9, 2; Gapon, 8.0, 3. All started.
