THE NEW ZEALAND GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP. Unpleasant weather greatly marred the enjoy me t l’ those taxing part in th*- golf chan, j ior ship on the Cornwall Park links. A very wintry wind blew si i ongly all the ■ week, and the driving showers were much too frequent. Despite these dn advantages some line games were played. The following were the results in the championship matches: — FIRST ROUND. J. C. Burn.-: (Auckland) beat W. E. Reul (Well ... etc n), 4 up and 3 to play. IJ. T. Gillies (Auckland) beat Colonel E. Gorton (Manawatu), 7 up and 5 to play. J. C. Bidwell (Wairarapa) beat J. O. Jamieson (Christchurch), 7 up and 6 to playA. D. S. Duncan (Wellington) beat J. A. Burt (Otago), 5 up and 4 to play. J. Harold (Wanganui) beat M. Turrell (Wellington), 9 up and 8 to play. Hoari Kawhi (Napier) beat E. S. Pearce (Wellington), 5 up and 3 to play. K. D. Duncan (Wellington) beat W. B. Colbeck (Auckland), 1 up at the 18th. A. H. Fisher (Otago) beat E. Turner (Auckland), 8 up and 7 to play. F. L. Gordon (Napier) beat W. C. Weston (Ngamotu), 5 up and 3 to play. Byes: N. S. Gould v. Wilson (scratched), a bye. Burns beat Gillies, 3 up and 2 to play. A. Duncan beat Bidwell, 1 up at the 18th. Harold beat Wood, 6 up and 5 to play. Tareha beat Kawhi, 5 up and 4 to play. K. Duncan beat Heather, one up. Fisher beat Borthwick, 3 up and 2 to playGordon beat Gilfillan, 6 up and o to play. THIRD ROUND. Burns (Auckland) beat T. Gould (Wellington), 6 up and 5 to play. A. Duncan (Wellington) beat J. Harold (Wanganui), 5 up and 4 to play. K. Duncan (Wellington) beat K. Tareha (Napier), 1 up. A. H. Fisher (Otago) beat F. L. Gordon (Napier), 3 up and 1 to play. FOURTH ROUND. A. Duncan beat J. C. Burns, 4 up and 3 to play. K. Duncan beat A. H. Fisher, 1 up. final (36 holes). A. Duncan beat K. Duncan, 5 up and 4 to play. in the final K. Duncan did so badly at the last few holes of the opening round that he ■was never able to pull it up again. In the second round the game was very even all through. This is the fourth occasion on which A. Duncan has won the championship. Trevor Gould (Wellington), with a handicap of 8, very easily won the Bogey Handicap with 3 up. H. Gilfillan (handicap 19) was second with 2 dc.wn. J. B. Lusk and H. B. Lusk, of Auckland (handicap 9), won the bogey foursomes after a tie with Burns and Bamford (handicap 2), and Pearce and Reid (Handicap 3). .** * * J. C. Bidwell, of Wairarapa, won the medal handicap from scratch with the good score of 83.

W. B. Colbeck annexed the putting competition with a score of 34 for the 18 holes.

The Wellington team (A. Duncan, K. Duncan, W. Reid, and A. S. Pearce) won the O’Rorke Inter-club Challenge Vase with a score of 367, from Auckland (371) and Napier (392).

In the teams’ match South beat the North by 377 to 378. The visiting golfers left by the Rarawa on Sunday, a host of friends being present to see them off.
