SALE OF RACING STOCK
The sale of thoroughbred stock at Messrs Hunter and Nolan’s yards on Friday last was not a success. Somehow the sale of racing stock, with the prospects of a dreary winter before us, is not attended with success. The lots from Sylvia Park did not realise satisfactory prices, and it is very probable that some of the purchasers obtained bargains. The following is a list of the Sylvia Park lots sold : —Chestnut yearling filly by St. Leger—Bellona, Mr D. McLeod, 23gs; bay yearling filly by St. Hippo—Waitemata, Mr R. Ash, Mount Roskill, 6gs; brown yearling colt by St. Leger—Sunbeam, Mr O’Brien, Palmerston, 40gs; bay yearling filly by St Hippo—Ellerslie, Mr H. Massey, Auckland, llgs; brown yearling filly by St. Hippo— Liquidation, Mr John Rae, Auckland, 45gs. A number of other lots offered on behalf of various owners were passed in.
