PIGEON SHOOTING.

• There was a fairly good attendance at Potter’s Paddock' on Friday last to witness the shooting in the Northern Gun Club’s match. In addition to the local shots there were several competitors from the South and elsewhere, no doubt attracted by the large prize money, £lOO. which split up into six prizes—-first, £45 ; second, £25 ; third, £l5 ; fourth, £7 ; fifth, £5 ; sixth, £3. Shooting was commenced at an early hour, and did not.conclude until about six pm. In all there were sixty-five acceptors. Major Morrow, the hon. secretary, made very complete arrangeand as the day was favorable, the match passed off very satisfactorily. Mr James Russell acted as referee. Dr. Owen and Mr H. Cutts tied for first place, and agreed to share first and second moneys. Mr C. D. Kennedy and Mr Arthur Bull similarly agreed to divide third and fourth prizes, and Messrs George Parsons and C. Young carried off fifth and sixth honours. The following are the handicaps and results : — ‘ Dr. Owen, 30yds, and Mr H. Cutts, 29yds, ■■■' divide first and second. Messrs 0. D. Kennedy, 27yds, and A. Bull, 23yds, divide third and fourth. Mr George Parsons, 28yds, fifth. Mr Claud Young, 29yds, sixth.
