AUCKLAND REGATTA.

The Auckland Regatta was held yesterday. The wind in the morning was light and flukey, but freshened later. The following are the results as the yachts crossed the winning line : — 7-rating and over, Volunteer Ist, 18min ahead of Viking, Halcyon 3rd ; 5-rating, Moana Ist, Ida 12min away 2nd, Ladyc Wilma 3rd; 21rating, Mahaki beat Mizpah by smin, Daisy half minute away 3rd.

I am glad to report that our old friend, Martin Taylor, escaped with a slight shaking only when thrown from his buggy the other day. He says, “ For a h'an man, he fell gently.” 1 have inspected two oil paintings he has had done, by Mr Veitch, of Bess Morley, the well-known winner, and Lizzie Godfrey, winner of the last, big stake in Auckland, and 1 must commend the artist. Mr 'l’aylor tells me that he has already sent two samples forth from his kennel, and that he has another in “ pickle.” Wo hope to sec his genial face and form in Auckland in June next.
