FITZGERALDS’ MONSTER CIRCUS.
Since they opened their tent-flaps last Saturday night, the Fitzgerald Bros, have enjoyed splendid houses, the immense seating accommodation being severely taxed every evening. The show’ is one of the best, ever seen in Auckland, and while strong in ordinary circus business, has several sensational acts which give it an exceptionally good flavour. The somersaults turned by Mdme. Antonio from the high trapeze into a net close to the ground is a daring act that takes on hugely, w’hile Prof. Peart’s dive from the roof into a small water tank gives one a creepy sensation dow’n the spine that is well worth paying for. How Peart misses the edge of thetank is best known to himself. It does not look a particularly easy thing, and in the seconds that elapse from his signal “ ready ” to the splash of his body in the water, one mentally pictures what the consequences would be if he hit the edge of the tank. The educated horse, Mahomet, is a marvel in the way of horseflesh, and the Altons are the neatest acrobats ever seen in this country ; while the contortionists, the Eclair Bros., may have been born with bones, but have since mislaid them. Right to the end of the season Fitzgeralds’ show should enjoy packed houses; and when they go Taranaki way imd further South, the pleasure-loving public down there may rely upotr seeing an exceptionally good-(Jffciisi • ' l - 1
