WELLINGTON FOOTBALL.

(BY WIRE. —FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) August 14. Manawatu easily defeated the South Canterbury footballers yesterday at Palmerston by 13 to 3. New South Wales footballers leave Sydney on Saturday by the Wairarapa, and Mr F. Logan is going to Auckland next week to welcome them. There are 25 men in the team, and Sefton has been appointed umpire. Jack is the only man in the Wellington rep team, which is to travel North, who cannot obtain the necessary leave of absence. After influence had been unavailingly brought to bear, Young was given Jack’s place, while Davidson replaces Bourke at fullback. Wellington should win against South Canterbury and Marlborough on Thursday and Saturday next respectively. The Marlborough team has been replinshed by six new men.
