TARANAKI FOOTBALL.

(from our own correspondent.) August io. Arrangements are being made here to give the New South Wales team a cordial reception, when they arrive here in August 31. The match will be played in the New Plymouth Recreation Ground on Saturday, September 1. The Taranaki will play Wellington on Tuesday following at Hawera. Star and Waimate play off for the senior premiership on Friday next at Hawera. A keen game is anticipated. The three clubs in the junior championship running are Star 11. and Tukapa (north end) and Stratford IL in the southern end. Tukapa beat Clifton 11. by 8 points to nil at Waitara on Thursday. The same day Star 111. and Inglewood 11. played a draw at Inglewood, scoring 8 points each. An endeavour is being made to get the Taranaki rep team together for a week before the fixture with New South Wales. Taranaki should beat Wellington. [by wire.] August 14. The Star Seniors have decided to visit Auckland to play Parnell and probably Grafton. They leave here on September 11th. Star and Waimate play at Hawera on Friday for the senior championship. They have met twice this year, and each game resulted in a draw. Tukapa won the protest against Inglewood, and the Union has ordered the match to be played again at Waitara. It is a certainty now that Star SecondTukapa will meet again for the Junior Cup, and much interest will be centred in the game. Taranaki will play the same team against New South Wales as played against Auckland
