Pakuranga Hunt Club.
The members of this club met at the Three Kings on Saturday, when the afternoon was beautifully fine, and there was a large muster. A hare was vainly sought for in the neighbourhood of the mountain, and then the back of Mr Dignan’s place was tried with somewhat more satisfactory results, for this time “ puss” got up and indulged her followers with a smart run till she got lost in a lot of gorse. The hounds were then taken back to the Three Kings’ school-house, whence a drag was laid in the direction of Mount Albert. There were some big jumps to negociate on the journey, and the ground was a bit sloppy, but the majority of the field rode as straight as a die. Another drag, with equally as difficult country to negociate, was laid from Mount Albert to Avondale, and the hunt finished up in time for those participating to see the finish of the coursing on the new Plumpton at Avondale. Among the first flight throughout were Miss Percival,Miss McLaughlin, Miss Thomas, Mrs Bloom field, Miss Kerr-Taylor, Lieut. Baird (of H M.S. Orlando), and Messrs Crowe, C. Gordon, Bloomfield, H. Tonks, Selby (Wanganui), and H. Gorrie. At a committee meeting, held yesterday, the following members were elected : —Messrs. A. Hay Chapman, W. Thornton, J. Phillips, Patterson, T. D. Halstead, H. Smeidel, Richardson, W. Absolum, A. Young. Honorary members were elected as under : —Messrs. Percy Atkin, W. McLauchlan, Bailey and Laurie.
