January 18. At Tennis. There were a large numlwr at the College Street tennis courts on .Saturday, when matches wet's played against
St. John’s Club. Mrs. Palmer provided afternoon tea. Amongst those present were Mr. and Mrs. J. Harold, Mr. and Mrs. Palmer, Mr. H. Palmer, Mrs. Hesse Mrs. Von Hasst, Mrs. Fairburn. Miss Mortop Jones, Miss Spenser, Mr. M. Spenser (Canada), Miss Brettargh, Miss D. Brettargh. Miss Parsons, Miss R. Nixon Miss Cave, Miss Newcombe, Miss Fraser, Miss Hardcastle, Miss Christie, Miss G. Christie, Miss (,). Williams, Miss Fairburn, Miss Montgomery. Moore, Mr. and Mrs. A. Izard, Miss S. Dymoek, Miss P. Nixon, Miss W. Anderson, Miss Ashcroft, Messrs. Brettargh, Stevenson, Harrison, Evered, Haw Kins, Ritchie, Dr. Gregg, Rev. C. Harvey and others. Personal. Miss Spenser gave a very enjoyable evening on Tuesday for her brother. Mr. Martyn Spenser, of Canada, who is staying in Wanganui with his relations. Mrs. Cotterill, of Westport, is staying in Wanganui with her mother, Mrs. John Anderson. Miss Tanner, of Wellington, is the guest of Mrs. Richmond Dunn, St. John Hill, Wanganui. Mrs. Cooper, and Miss Alexander, of Wanganui, have been staying at the Mountain House. Mr. John Watt and Miss Watt, of Wanganui, who have been visiting relations in Auckland, have returned to their home. Mrs. and Miss Stevenson, of Wanganui, are staying at Taihape with Mrs. Oldham.
