November 29. Afternoon Tea. On Friday afternoon, at Alva Street, Mias Alice Woodhouse gave a snia'i tea party in honour of some visitors. Alisa

Woodhouse received her guests in the drawing room, and a dainty tea was served in the dining room, where pretty spring flowers decorated the table. Those present were:—Mrs. Du Croz and her sister (Mrs. Buchanan, from Ashburton ) ; Miss Holdsworth and her guest, Miss Greta Mills (Sydney) ; Miss Allen, Miss Rona Allen, Miss Kathleen Ulrich, Miss Theomin and her guest, Miss Hilda Chapman (Wellington); Mrs. Edgar Hazlett, Aliss Coreen Ogston and her guest, Miss Gossett (Christchurch); Miss Fels, Aliss Fitzgerald (Wellington), Miss Alarjorie Hart and Miss Woodhouse and her sister, Miss Agnita Woodhouse. At the Theatre. Amongst the patrons of the Oscar Ashe Company in Dunedin have been:—Sir Joshua and Lady Williams. Mr. and Airs, and Aliss Theomin, Air. and Airs, and Aliss Hart, Air. and Airs. J. F. R. and Aliss Sise. the Alisses AlcLean, Mr. and Aliss Gould, Aliss Ogston, etc. In the Burns’ Hall on Friday a citizens’ reception and welcome was given to Air. and Airs. Oscar Ashe. The vistors were officially welcomed by his Worship the Alayor, who, with Airs. Wilson (Mayoress), Air. and Airs. Burnett, Mr. Whitson (president of the Shakespearean Society), Air. Hutchison, and a few others were seated on the platform. Personal. Airs. Lindo Fedgusou and her son. Air. Gerald Ferguson, arrived this week from England. _ Other passengers from England were Air. and Airs. De Beer and family and Air. and Airs. W. Alontgomerie, of Little River, Canterbury, Aliss Beatrice Farquhar, who has been in England visiting her sister, Airs. Harold Smith, returned by the Otway to Sydney and reached Dunedin last week.

Airs. Phil. Wright has gone to Akaroa with her children until her husband’s return from England. Air. and Airs. W. Laidlaw, of Alatakauni, Otago Central, returned by the Tainui from England. Air. Laidlaw has almost recovered from his serious illness in Scotland. Aliss Hodgkins has arrived in Wellington after some years’ absence in Europe, where she has prosecuted her duties in art. Aliss Hodgkins belonged to Dunedin. Airs. Neil Barclay is here from Australia and is vistiing her mother, Airs. Keith Ramsay. Aliss Shand has gone to Wellington, and is staying with her brother, Dr. Shand. Airs. A. S. Paterson has gone to Auckland to meet Air. and Miss Paterson, who have been in America.
